Let me start by listing what I did and what I ate.
Workout routine:
- I signed up for Semperviva Yoga's 30 day trial memebership. I was actually on my way to YYoga Kits when I passed by Semperviva Yoga. To be honest, I was too lazy to walk 5-7 blocks so I thought "Why not try this place since it's only a stone's throw away??". There was only one class available by the time I got there and it was the Vinyasa Power Flow class. Holy shit, I didn't expect the intensity of this class!! The original plan was to do yoga then go to the gym to lift weights (more of this below). I was told that Ron Zalko popularized the combination of weightlifting and yoga to optimize your workout routine. I'm pretty sure that yoga is supposed to be done after weightlifting but my source insisted it's before.
Anyway, back to yoga. This class is challenging so if you're new to yoga or haven't gone in a while, better stick to hatha yoga or something. The people who attended the class could do handstands and inverted everything poses! Whereas I had to pause for a second to remember what downward dog pose is! By the way, let me go on a tangent here, just because yoga is popular in the city of 604 doesn't mean the instructor should stop demonstrating poses and assume people know what they're doing. I had to resort to looking at what others were doing before I can follow along. Perhaps I'm being unfair. I did go to an advanced class after all. I'll see how it goes in the basic classes. Crow's pose, you are a bitch. The instructor, Stacey was helpful though when I asked her to show me how to do this after class. She wasn't kidding when she said I will get bruises on the back of my arm!
2. After yoga, I went straight to Steve Nash Kits to do some squats. When I say squats, I use the squat rack. I had 10 lbs on each side. I haven't been to the gym in a month so I want to take it easy. I did 10 reps, 5 sets. I'm satisfied. I felt the effort to complete the 5 sets but I did it nonetheless and that's what counts. In weightlifting, the key is to push your boundaries because that's when you burn the most calories. Of course, I'm talking about normal circumstances where you haven't broken your back or strained a muscle.
How am I feeling now? My thighs are a bit sore, as expected, but my arms feel like jello. My back, the part between the shoulder blades feel tight as well. That's most likely from the yoga.
Food intake:
For breakfast, I had sauteed chopped red and green bell pepper, 3 sunny side up eggs with paprika and iodized salt. For yoghurt, I take Source's berry flavoured yoghurt. It's fat free and sugar free. The more natural alternative is Oikos. This brand is the best. Fat free greek yoghurt. However, I don't have fruits in my fridge so I opted for Source.
Detox plan:
I've also started taking Wild Rose's detox program. I'll make a separate post about this.
Pictures:
I've decided to take pictures daily but will post them on a weekly basis. So I will have a 5 daily pics collaged into one photo. It's not realistic to look at my weight daily. Since this program has an end of month goal, weekly sounds more reasonable. After my photoshoot, I'll continue on and post one bi-weekly.
Here's my challenge for the day. It's Superbowl Sunday. How can I stay healthy?? I'll have to post about it tomorrow if I cheated or not! Since I'm on the Wild Rose detox program, there's really not a lot of room for error here!
